The independent, but not stress-free journey

Traveling by car offers flexibility and comfort, but it is not always stress-free. Before setting off, it is advisable to plan your route and check the latest traffic reports. Also, find out about the parking situation and current occupancy at the Eibsee car park and Zugspitze cable car car park, and consider alternatives in case the car park at your planned destination is already full.

While driving, please pay attention to traffic control signs and the parking guidance system, which will provide you with up-to-date information to help you avoid traffic jams or long searches for parking.

Arrival by car

There are two public parking lots available at Eibsee for a fee: the Eibsee parking lot and the Zugspitze cable car parking lot.

Eibsee parking lot (current occupancy)

Hourly rate from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
No overnight parking from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Height restriction of 2.10 m

Zugspitze cable car parking lot (current occupancy)

Hourly rate from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Night parking rate from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. – parking permitted, overnight stays prohibited
Height restriction of 2.20 m between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
2 x 2 charging stations for electric cars

Parking fees can be paid in cash or by card at both parking lots.

Please also note the local signs for the parking guidance system! If a parking lot is full, the signs of the parking guidance system will direct you to the next available parking lot.

Arrival by motorhome or camper van

There is no parking available for camping vehicles of any kind at the Eibsee car park.

Limited parking spaces for camping vehicles are available at the Zugspitze cable car car park between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Additional parking spaces for motorhomes are available in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the ice rink car park and at the Hausberg car park. Both parking lots are located in the immediate vicinity of the cog railway stations. This makes it easy to continue your journey to Eibsee or the Zugspitze by public transport.

Please note that only parking is permitted there!

Overnight parking spaces are available at Camp am Wank, Pure Camping, or Camping Resort Zugspitze in Grainau.
